I didn’t order the Pizza

Time for some fights.

Our CEO decided to do a quick roam, so we got into some shield fit cruisers and started wandering. I took a Scimitar as I am such a Logibro, but I threw in a 250mm autocannon in a high slot instead of my usual smart-bomb for Kill-mail shenanigans.

A few jumps down and we find ourselves on the other end of a gate with 300 guys in the other side. 300 vs 12. Not good odds, So we hang around the gate hoping to grab a few kills, but to no avail. However we did find the flow path for pods on the way back, so we cracked three empty eggs before returning. Not too bad, even if we didn’t get a fight.

Next up, a quick tower popping. It was slow, so we dropped a few dreads to speed things along. Always helpful to keep the isk flowing for our SRP.

The 7pm roam was the main event though. 40 of us in Nano Shield ships. I was part of a 4 man logi wing (3 scimitars and a scythe). No specific ship, just fast brawling damage and good tank. I kept my corp scimitar build with the EM smart-bomb 2 in the highs. Fit below.

The roam was mostly without much incident. A few people tried to bait us into station games. No dice. But we heard of a nice 60 man rupture gang just waiting to be kicked in.

Time to clean house.

We sat on the opposite gate to them and started to burn away as it got bubbled in preparation. The Logi wing went to get some distance and keep the DPS between us as the Ruptures jumped in.

The Rupture DPS came in hard. Our lone scythe took stupid damage and was pounded into structure as he was primaried, a few slivers of HP left.

Then the reps landed.

Our reps were keeping him up. And the frustration for the other fleet began.

The DPS was not breaking the reps, and it wasn’t as fast as it needed to be to get ships off the field. And we were melting the ruptures fast.

ECM drones were swarming me, and I got jammed once, but that Smartbomb, such an MVP, cleared them off in short order, and we were back in the game. It was frantic and awesome.

Things were looking up.

Then Pizza arrived with a T3 fleet and POP, I was dead. Oracles and Tornadoes. DAMN YOU!!!

Lots and lots of alpha. With our logi wing gone after 4 alpha hits (no damage to popped instantly) we were done. I fled the field and so did the rest if our guys. We couldn’t engage the T3’s at that distance, and it was just a killing floor.

Man, it was such a good fight. I think we could have won the field with the rupture gang.

Good fight.  Thank you to the Pizza and Renegades Council fleets for getting in there, and making a fight happen.

Peace out.

Edit: was corrected that renegades was not a third fleet, but it was a 2v1. Thanks

Next door to 9-V: Hero Logi

9-V was an epic fight. You can get details here: http://themittani.com/news/battle-report-9-v-station-falls-cfc

Basically it was a final push for taking the station, and taking it over. It was CFC vs TEST/NS/ETC.

I was watching it on the Mad Ani twitch stream (http://www.twitch.tv/mad_ani) and I had to be impressed by some of the maneuvers.

But I wasn’t watching for just entertainment.

Next door, we had our own fleet. deployed to gank stragglers and disrupt CFC reinforcements.

The Timezone made this a very hard thing to do. We didn’t have a lot of ships on field, so we got into a Tornado fleet. High Alpha , with some Logi support.

Me in a solo logi. The return of “Hero Logi”. Scimitar

So I made some quick changes. Added a Cyno in a high slot (3 large reppers) and some ozone for one cyno, just in case it was needed, and away we went.

It was a pretty fun fleet. FC got us into the habit of pre-aligning before any damage was applied, and we started popping ships. We lost 2 Tornados and a Sabre, but for those losses got a few Megas, some Celestis, and some random ships that came to the wrong neighborhood.

It felt good, as we were heavily outnumbered by the opposing side, yet were able to dictate engagement range.

More and more I am respecting the Celestis support fleet composition. It is actually worse than ECM for negating Logistics advantages. I had a Sensor Booster with a script  just for scan res and kept in tight with the fleet as a result. The worst part is there is no real hard counter to the massed Celestis. Such a good doctrine, kudos.

Anyway, we got home okay, I didn’t die, and I saved a few nados. Sure, I wont be rocking any Killboard stats, but I like being able to facilitate the wins we did get.
Peace out.

Lessons learned from Full Metal Jacket

“Anyone who runs, is a VC. Anyone who stands still, is a well-disciplined VC!”

Actually they should say:

“In Low-Sec: Any small gang who runs is bait. Any small gang that stays and fights is well-tanked bait”

A fleet call gets put out for shield tanked ships. We have deployed to Fountain and there is a small gang harassing us next door. I have, annoyingly, only got frigate level ships ready, so I grab a Tornado from one of the alliance contracts. It’s the same Tornado fit I linked before, but without the Signal Amplifier in the low (Replaced with an additional tracking enhancer II). I’m scripted for scan res and tracking speed.

We make our way over to get some action. We have a fairly mixed bag of ships. One more tornado, a scimitar, and a few other shield tanked cruisers and BC’s. It’s a good mix. I’m feeling confident as we start our prep. And then i begin to feel the small trickle of “We may not be very good”.

First is, I have zero tackle ability in my ship. I am DPS and i know it. I’m fitted for fast lock and massive alpha. And i am okay with that. But it seems that no-one else has a long point, or a lot of webs. I keep wondering if I should have brought my AF harpy. It’s a great fast locking tackle machine that does pretty damn good DPS with its rail fit. But I took the Tornado.

We are made aware of this when a Loki warps into the middle of us. I lock him up and start chewing through his shield as the FC calls for point. And no-one points him.

Okay, we just need better pointing discipline. We can do this.

I should have realised we may not be in a good situation. But, I have FC trust, and I have not enough Eve confidence to try FC’ing again.

So we have a Neutral Alt in system, in a heavily tanked AHAC. Which means our scimitar may not be as useful. He is baiting on an undock to get this gang to engage. We sit on gate, waiting for the opportunity to fight.

The bait calls aggression and we warp in. Primaries are called and we start doing damage.

And the primary disappears. He docked up.

We thought he aggressed. But the problem was flashing red, and not redboxed. A misunderstanding. One that I have made in the past! So we try our best to get the rest of the gang but they dock up and undock.  Undock really quickly.

The station guns are starting to hurt so I align out to warp away. As I align and start my warp, local spikes by 40

Crap. The FC tells people to scatter as i leave grid. I can hear the desperation. But the bait on the undock have started redboxing with their nice scram and web. And no one is going anywhere.

40 Redeemer’s pop in. and start melting face. I am so close to being able to fly one, i can taste it. And seeing a massed Redeemer fleet makes it more tempting. MUST GET BLACK OPS SHIP.

Man, we got baited so good. it was the long con. Get us all nice and aggressed on undock then tackle and wait for the big DPS to do the work. Its…almost like what we were trying, but failed miserably!

Nice bait, and PL get some good kills. I didn’t lose my ship.

Baiting: it’s quite good. I might like to try it sometime.

In good news the deployment is complete and we are ready for some fleets. Hoping for some good fights and interesting play.

Peace out.

Crashing Z9PP (literally)

There was an epic fight (Article here: http://themittani.com/news/battle-z9pp-eve-players-vs-servers) over in Fountain the other day. Why not crash it? It was onTwitch TV (Prop to Mad Ani: Link here: http://www.twitch.tv/mad_ani.)  Booyah!

For shits and giggles we set up a quick fleet to go in and try to alpha people. My time spent training Battlecruiser to 5 meant that I could fly a Minmitar T3 battlecruiser for this fleet. I may not have T2 projectile skills, but that didn’t matter. taking the time to get BC 5 and Destroyer 5 has been such a boon. BC’s are useful in most fleets, and the extra bonuses really do help.

The ship was designed to be popped. If you were expecting to survive the fleet, then you were mistaken. Cheap Meta 4 guns with some mods to boost range and targeting. Lock target at 140km and shoot. The Uranium allows for good optimal range and you can apply pretty good dps as a result.

We had about 30 people in fleet, making us a very nice T3 snipe gank. Get in, align to celestial, pick primary, pop primary, warp off before the massed bombers get you. We daisy chained soem titan bridges to get us there fast, which was an awesome sight to see. Force projection at its finest.

It didn’t go as expected. Our first mistake was that 10% tidi makes everything reallly slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. Our second mistake was warping to the same sniping perch twice. Foolish humans.

We dodged the first bombing run, warping out matrix style as the bomb just got to where we were. Skills.

Returning to the same location wasn’t the best idea. At 10% tidi we had all the time to see the MWD Sabre screaming towards us as the FC starts telling us all to align. It didn’t help. The bubble went up and POP, we lost half the fleet. The good thing is that the bubble popped as well as the Sabre, letting the survivors warp off. I was lucky, only losing my Tornado, and avoiding pod loss. And the best bit was seeing our demise on Mad Ani’s twitch stream. The humiliation!

I say lucky, as the out gate 1 jump out was camped by Snigwaffe, and I lost the pod. but, it saved me 32 jumps home.

We got in, tried to get a few kills, got a few kills, and all died in a fire. Op success.

Don’t be afraid to get blown up in a cheap ship. So much fun.

The end result was the crash of the node. Bad in that it prevented any escalations and the fight was aborted. as much as we like shooting CFC, we’d prefer legitimate wins, and not via Force Majeur.

Peace out.
